Recovery, then…
So after the race on Tuesday, I was off the bike for the whole rest of the week. Lazy, right? So come Saturday, I want to do a long ride. In fact, I decide to check off another checkbox in my cycling resumé and just do a damn century. Previously my biggest day was 87 miles.
So that’s what I did. Rode up to Woodside from Palo Alto to meet up with John, Dan, and Harold, blasted up Kings Mountan Road (new personal record: 30:30!) and down Skyline to 92 (worst fog/crosswinds/wetness EVER for a sunny day… It was insane), then back on Canada and all that. That was only about 55 miles though, so I followed Harold home to Milpitas (!) before coming back up the Peninsula. I never want to artificially extend a ride again, but I did it. 100 miles. A Century.™ And it only took me “all freakin’ day” to boot!
In fact, I don’t have any photos from the “good” part of the ride, so here’s a picture of my navigation of the unpaved paths around the baylands…
