The Very Next Day…
After a Saturday MTB race, you’d think that it’d be time for a nice easy spin or sleep to recover. Well, fate didn’t have that in store for me. Well, no. Jason called me up at 9:30 and told me to head to the East Bay for the Rad Massaker alleycat.
Here’s the scene at the start:

Okay, so I harbor few illusions about my speed on the bike, and even fewer of my ability to navigate the cities of the East Bay… But wouldn’t you know, I managed to follow a few people (Jason) who knew where they were going, and held onto the pack. By the time we finished the 41-mile ordeal, I found out that I finished 17th (out of 170!). Jason and friends did even better… Wow!
Dynamic Action Shot! Wow! That’s me, Jason, and Nathan (?). William was part of our starting squad too, but we eventually lost him in our efforts to keep hold of the front of the race.

And the spoils!

An awesome day that coincidentally fulfilled my need for a “long road ride” on Sunday. However, the intensity (41 miles at 18mph) was actually training me for an event I didn’t even know I was doing yet…
