June Gets Serious: Lake Sonoma

Okay, so it’s been a while since I wrote an entry… But what a ton of things have happened!

First off, Lu and I joined Krishna and Derrick on Sheila Moon to race at the Lake Sonoma Series. The course was a long gravel road descent, followed by some flowy mostly downhill singletrack, into a long, exposed climb back to the start. Good times… Beginners did 3 laps, and it took me about 1:06. By the end, I was actually reeling people in and felt pretty good about my podium chances, but when the results came in I found out I placed 5th (5 seconds behind 4th!). Not bad at all, it’s the first time I actually FELT like I was racing during a MTB race. Of course, there were only 9 people in my class, so it’s totally mid-pack.

Lu, Krishna and Me after the race. PS: Krishna crushed Expert, upgraded to Pro mid-race, and crushed the field. The man’s an animal.
